Are you happy that spring has finally actually sprung here in Chicago? Do you find that the change of seasons affects your motivation to sew? Whether you're lacking inspiration or bursting with it, getting together with friends who sew is the perfect antidote. That's what we're all about here at Chicago Sews—commiserating when a sewing project doesn't work out, celebrating the ones that do, and being there for everything in between.
Looking Back
April Sip & Sew
At our April Sip & Sew our theme was spring cleaning our sewing spaces. Some of our guests mentioned specific challenges with organization such as knowing what to do with leftover fabric so that it doesn't go to waste or getting nearly done with a sewing project and then never finishing it because the fit is off. Fabric stash organization also came up and the Threadloop app was recommended along with folding fabric around comic book storage boards. It was interesting to find out each other's pain points as well as different ways that we've come up with to handle them.
April Open Sew
We returned to the Northtown Branch Library for our April Open Sew. As you can see from these photos, everyone was fully immersed in their sewing pursuits at this event. We all look so serious and focused, but we also made time to socialize, share tips, and tell sewing stories. Our Open sew events are a perennial favorite for a reason!
